Ideas for ClassiCube's Enhanced and Classic Modes

Here's some of the features I want to be here:

Additions I want:

-Add more blocks for enhanced mode while still keeping the look of Classic Minecraft.

-Add Block of Quartz (maybe replacement for Ceramic Tiles) to make Quartz Pillars (or just Pillars ingame here) have a variation for quartz.

-Add Black Wool (for Enchanced only)

-Add a Dynamic Lighting for darkness/shading like Indev to present in Fancy Lighting Mode: Doesn't make sense when the dynamic lighting is just for bright blocks and not for darkness of blocks.

-Add a collide that makes it bouncy like Slime Blocks.

-Add more custom block sounds.

-Add a third layer for terrain.png OR add separate block textures instead of using terrain.png BUT terrain.png will still be present. I would really need this!

-Add a choice for stretched UNRANDOMIZED Cross models (e.g. roses, saplings).

-Add a choice for interpolated animation to make the animation much more smoother. I want this!

Changes I want:

-Atleast make the limit for fast blocks to 4x so it actually makes a much more faster blocks.

-Change the classic hand models to actually look like the hand in 0.24-0.30 Survival Tests (see images).

-Change the modern hand models to actually look like the hand in Infdev-present (see images).

-Change the modern third-person animations so it doesn't have a bouncy animation.

-When your about to zoom your camera for the first time, instead of scrolling first to zoom camera while pressing the zoom key, pressing the zoom key must automatically zoom the camera and you can still just adjust it by scrolling it.

-Change the animation spritesheet from horizontal to vertical so it matches Minecraft.

-Change the texture for some blocks: Add a new and animated texture for magma blocks. Change Ice texture to make it much like Vanilla Minecraft. Change the Enhanced colors of Wool to it's pre-r1.2.4 colors instead of pre-r1.12 versions (r1.2.4 slightly desaturated all the wool textures), with the Sandstone texture to match it's pre-1.2.4 texture (r1.2.4 slightly changed the texture for sandstone to move the dark pixel in the bottom left 1 pixel high). Change the Fire Placeholder/unanimated texture to look more like Minecraft. I also don't know why there are 2 texture for both bottom and top textures for pillars, it's just the same texture 🤔 (see images).

-Change name for old Cloths to match Classic Minecraft.

There are no plans to add more blocks to the base game because you can already create or edit blocks in a server.

For performance and artistic reasons, fancy lighting was not made to exactly match the lighting of modern Minecraft. I have no plans to change how fancy lighting works. It is possible to simulate indev style if you use bright air blocks arranged in the right way, though.

That would be cool. It sounds difficult to add more custom block sounds because someone will have to create original sounds for the ClassiCube original alternative sound pack.

Why do you need this? I have never seen someone use up all 512 of the terrain texture slots. You might be able to be more efficient with textures if you tint a white version of the texture (Name the block starting or ending with # then use fogcolor property to tint it)

Good ideas. The first one could definitely be done by anyone who has a bit of coding experience. The third change, like many of the things you're asking for here, is more complicated because any change we make needs to be made in a way that doesn't break the community's existing creations.

The hand texture orientation change between 0.30 and ClassiCube is intentional. I feel like you're really nitpicking about the positions of the hands. These were our best attempts at a guess of how they should be positioned. If you can find the exact numbers that will bring the position exactly in line with Classic and Infdev, feel free to provide them and I'll make the change.

This is a good idea, might be easy to implement.

No. I don't think the convenience of being able to copy-and-paste animations from modern Minecraft is worth the trouble of breaking existing ClassiCube texture packs or over-complicating the system by adding both options.

No. It doesn't sound like you've considered that there are already thousands of builds people have made with the current classic wool colors. Why even change them to begin with? Enhanced mode is not meant to be a replication of newer Minecraft versions. It's just its own thing.

There is no reason to change the placeholder animation textures because they aren't visible in-game.

So that people can texture the bottom differently from the top if they want to.

The hand texture orientation change between 0.30 and ClassiCube is intentional. I feel like you're really nitpicking about the positions of the hands. These were our best attempts at a guess of how they should be positioned. If you can find the exact numbers that will bring the position exactly in line with Classic and Infdev, feel free to provide them and I'll make the change.

I'm guessing for the classic hand, I swapped each 2 arm textures and then mirrored it, I tested it by changing my skin, maybe you can try by code?

All this requires a huge optimization and rewriting of the game code, and updating of all existing ports. I'm not an expert in these matters, but there will be a lot of different comments, including comments from staff, but in mine opnion some of this cool, but but this is definitely not our decision
