Starting a server

Hello,

I am new to the ClassiCube/MCGalaxy community. I haven't played Minecraft Classic since World of Minecraft had their classic servers up. I am currently working on building some servers for the community, but as a server owner, I am kind of curious what the ClassiCube community would actually like to see out of a server. I am open to new ideas and I just want to help create a place that people actually want to play on. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I do want to note that I am trying to code the majority of my plugins/commands myself, so if you have an idea for something that doesn't exist yet, let's try and make it happen.

In my experience, the most important factor for a successful server is active and involved staff members and some unique factor that can get people invested. I'd recommend exploring some of the established classicube servers for ideas of what you might think works or doesn't work.

Here's some things that people seem to like
- Building contests
- Other time-limited events such as secret santa gift exchange
- Fleshed out skill based minigames (CTF does pretty well)
- Rewards that can be shown off to other players

At the end of the day I think you have to figure out what you like the most and create a server that fulfills that vision. Chances are if you genuinely like it, others will too, and that authenticity will matter even if players only feel it subconsciously.

I'm definitely interested in trying to develop some mini-games for ClassiCube. I just finished building a plugin that allows players to create their own "Realms"/levels and have control over said realm. Do you have any servers you suggest me visiting?

MCGalaxy already comes with support for personal realms with control over them. You might be jumping the gun a little with your custom content?

As for server suggestions, you should just try visiting the servers that have more players online since that'll be a good indicator of what people like seeing out of a server.
If you want specific suggestions, here are some:

- Desert Bus
- Jacob's CTF
- New Blood Zombie Survival
- Not Awesome 2
- Puissant Royale

I'm currently on Not Awesome 2 if you want to chat a bit more, forums are harder to go back and forth with
