I would say its better because the old skin has more depth to it because of the open mouth, which gives it a positive expression. whereas the closed mouth just gives the skin a bored/annoyed look. of course, an expression is the entire reason I'd pick the original, and bored/annoying are expressions but they're just not lively, positive ones.
