Unable to launch ClassiCube on Linux

Posted

I'm having trouble launching ClassiCube because every time I do, this happens

Weird part is that it has worked before, but it only started happening after several package updates and re-installing ClassiCube. I've tried changing almost everything I could think of but to no avail. Even after looking online, to see if someone else has this problem, it seems that I am the first person to have an issue like this.

The distro I'm using is Debian 12

tl;dr: run "sudo apt install xwayland" to get it working

It does seem like a client.log file was generated though, send that through as it logged the error. I may not be a linux nerd but I am assuming it has something to do with OpenGL or something with the display

debian has been slowly switching to using wayland. you might want to reach in your distro's back pocket and grab xwayland.

Aight so I installed xwayland, and after trying to launch ClassiCube, I get a message saying that it started, but there is no window open anywhere

However, I observed that issue only happens if you download it from classicube.net/download. If you download it from itch.io, it works the way it should.

Other than that, the problem is solved. 👍
